505 Games responds to Performance Issues of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night on Switch
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is out today on the Nintendo Switch, and it is not without its issues.
Low frame rate, missing words in text boxes, treasure chest bug that prevents you from continuing (the last one has been fixed with the recent update).
Many of us backers, myself included have gotten their physical copies of the game a day early (you can check out the live unboxing below of the game) and were greeted with the above issues.
We took to Reddit as we often do to complain, troubleshoot and the like of the game. We were compiling all the errors that we found in a mega thread and also encouraged to submit bugs through the appropriate channels. We half expected that these might get fixed in time.
Being a backer, I get access to the updates on the Kickstarter project, where Jason Ryan, Senior Community Manager at 505 Games, gave us a surprise update to the game’s issues.
We have been listening to the feedback regarding Switch performance. Our goal is for everyone, regardless of platform, to be able to enjoy the game and have it run smoothly. We want to live up to your, and our, expectations.
Throughout the QA process, we have been addressing performance issues in the game. Update 1.01 was published to Switch before launch to add content and improve performance. It did not accomplish as much as we had hoped, and we need to do more.
To address the concerns brought up by the community, we are immediately shifting resources to improve performance and stability for the Switch. You can expect several small updates that will improve different areas of the game rather than waiting longer for one big update. We will have more details as we dive into the work.
We thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

Many of us commented on the actual update posted on the campaign, praising them for quickly updating us on what, why, and how this happened and the measures that are being taken to fix this.
I, for one, am happy and surprised at this engagement and how this came to pass. Time will tell to see if they actually will deliver on the incremental updates to fix the game’s issues.
Be sure to check back for any updates in regards to the issues plaguing Bloodstained on the Switch.
